The Holiday features two vastly different houses that excel in their chosen decorating styles. Kate Winslet’s Iris lives in a cozy stone cottage that’s classic British workmanship with exposed wooden beams and stone washed walls that offset the floral furnishings. The traditional open fireplace is spectacular and although not practical, the bathroom looks fantastic.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is Cameron Diaz’s contemporary Pasadena house. Built by architect Wallace Neff in the 1920s, it retains his familiar Mediterranean influenced California Style. It’s spacious with lots of lighting and a stainless steel kitchen with tiled flooring. The lounge room is also stylish with its neutral colour palette and sophisticated furnishings. Deluxe.
