Forget all the dramas of the 21st century and hop in the time machine back to the 20th century instead. Or at the very least, pay a visit to Orlando Mesiti’s Scout House to see what all the glorious fuss was about. Brimming with vintage delights, original period pieces and furnishings, and handmade artisanal products, this shop is the bee’s knees of timeworn treasures.

The store prides itself on the smooth-talking stories that come through in their wares, like their Savon de Marseilles soap, still made in the traditional manner since the Middle Ages in the South of France. Another classic is the candle-making tradition known as Cire Trudon, kept alive since 1643 and found on Scout’s very own shelves. You won’t need a history book in this beloved store.
